Any offer that is being scrubbed .... someone is making more money somewhere along the line and you can bet its not the affiliate. The affiliate is getting hosed. We use HitPath for our tracking platform and it has a scrub feature for campaigns...... I made it very clear to my AM's there will be 0 tolerance for scrubbing!!!! I want our affiliates to make every single penny that they deserve! without affiliates there is no traffic. I also hate the "best offers and best payouts" line... UGH!! we have a lot of the same offers as other networks and very competitive payouts. I rather make 1% of something rather than 100% of nothing. What our strength is honesty and AM's that will do whatever they can to help make the affiliate successful.

[...] Ever pay attention to the affiliate network ads that pervade the blogs-on-blogging-and-marketing blogosphere? If you have, then you know that they’re all interchangeable. Every network promises you “better payouts and unique offers.” [...]

But why do they scrub offers that involve a CC submit? I've heard of advertisers scrubbing virtually all the CC submit traffic they receive, we're not talking about bad affiliates sending bad traffic.

Great post. I recently was removed from an offer that I was doing quite well with and just chalked it up to a loss. On Monday I'll ask my AM if I can renegotiate the payout. I never even thought of that. Thanks!

Absolutely, always good to look at it from the other-side's perspective, I guess we all just have to live with it. Good luck on your network!

Yeah it can be tricky. In the network you really need to setup a separate private campaign for the lower payout if all the rest of the pubs are good. It definitely can be tricky.

Nice article. I am an advertiser and I always try to lower a payout instead of cutting someone off. The problem with that is the networks don't want to do that. They say it's too confusing for accounting.
